Seriously. Just try and hire an electrician or plumber right now. Call 10 and maybe 2 will even call you back. If what you need them to do is under $1k, you’ll be lucky if they even come.

I used to work for a beverage company where I would regularly hire drivers without experience, train them for their CDLs, and pay them $45K + strong benefits. We’d always have a few leave after getting the CDL so they could work for themselves. Or, when fracking was in full swing, they’d go make $100k+ moving water

I hope this doesn’t come off as condescending, because I really do want to understand. Why continue to do this?

This would have been much more informative. A full P&L would tell the real story, and even a cash flow statement would be better.

That’s the dream. Right now, I’m 100% WFH, which is a little too much. Hoping that will go to 70% WFH next year as things open up. Commuting 2 days/week, even at an hour each way, is totally livable. A closer job would be great too, but supply is limited until I figure out how to work for myself.

Well-maintained, manual AWD wagon under $6k  - seems like NP to me. Though I would hope you could sell the wheels and tires and get some of the appropriate size, and pocket a little extra.

I’ll be the first to admit that changing cars often isn’t the best financial decision. It’s an indulgence, but it is one that doesn’t have to be disastrous if you buy right. My FJ, for example, is actually worth $2k more than I paid for it 2 years ago.

I really thought about a Bolt for my commute, especially because EVs get HOV access here.  The terrible interior, especially the seats, would keep me from pulling the trigger.

You’re not accounting for weekends, holidays, vacations, etc. It’s probably closer to 10%. Unless you’re one of the fortunate few who can live within minutes of your job, you’re probably going to spend 4-5% of your time commuting anyway. And it’s not necessarily wasted time - I spent the time on the phone, listening

#1 2012 Prius company car, #2 2012 328i sedan, #3 2016 C-Max hybrid company car, #4 2006 Mini Cooper S convertible, #5 2015 Acura TLX V6, #6 2009 328i convertible. The Mini was a toy that I DD’d for a couple of months when I changed jobs and lost my company car. I’m a slow shopper. The other convertible is also a toy

A Mazda6 would be a good choice. I drove a Mazda3 700 miles on the freeway, and found it exhausting. Granted, I usually travel in a full size truck or SUV, but even my FJ Cruiser handled freeway miles better.

I’ve had a 75-mile round trip commute for most of the last 8 years. Have done it in 6 different cars, and the best one so far was my TLX V6. Super quiet, great seats, good tech, excellent stereo, and a pretty nice ride. Has enough power and sportiness to be pretty fun when you want it to. Big enough to stretch out in.

I dealt with a 70 mile round trip commute for years, because I love where I live. Totally worth it.

This is one of those cars I always thought I should like, but just never could. Would much prefer a manual sedan. And I hate smoked taillights.

Just throwing out an idea here, but it’s very possible that the car was 10+ years old when it hit 22k and they did the belt due to age instead of miles.

Seller is really missing the boat not selling on BAT or Cars and Bids. Unicorn cars need national exposure.

Assuming his is equipped with the “Metric Ton” package, max payload is 2,205 lbs. He had 1,774 if I added right, plus the two adults, so it would be right around the limit.  Still, I’m going to assume the engineers didn’t account for a truck severely compromised by rust.

I was going to say something about being over payload capacity, but I looked it up and you may have actually been within spec. That’s pretty impressive hauling capacity for a midsize truck.

Fellow desert-dweller. Had a convertible with an insulated soft top, and even that thing was unbearable at the peak of summer. No way I could do a soft top Jeep here.

My Wrangler-loving teen daughters forbid me from buying one, because they think it’s so ugly. It’s definitely not a looker, but I did consider getting one just to spite them.
