Let natural selection do its job. I wear my belt. My daughter wears hers. All my friends wear belts. It’s a no brainer. I don’t need or want any added complexity or expense added to my car to save the morons who can’t manage a simple thing like buckling their belt. Come on, people.

A far easier approach is to NOT COUNT unbelted fatalities as auto fatalities. Instead create a new “idiot” category for them. Lumping them in with belted occupants unfairly penalizes the auto industry and leads to idiotic things like automatic seat belts.

I’ve traveled (and driven) all over this great country, and I would take LA traffic over DC traffic any day. Similar gridlock, but the DC Metro Area (which extends all the way up through Frederick, MD, Baltimore’s northern suburbs/exburbs, and down through NoVA) has much more... aggressive drivers.
