Several tweeters have mentioned she needs to do audiobooks. She seems (who the hell knows but based on what we see) to have a pretty down to earth work ethic- does a lot of small indy projects, cons, etc. so I could see her doing audiobooks or other voice work. That voice….

Isn't Jimmi Simpson on WestWorld?

If you can't yet come to call it Root, or even she, Shaw will accept Robot Overlord

Use the cushion!

That something older line gave me a Lovecraft vibe

Damn, if Harold would've just listened to/trusted Root.

And the cyberpunk/ steampunk/ comic book/ 30s movies/ whatever visual style - those shots of Harold w/his fedora and the sparks and the machinery. I also love whenever the show highlights the Machine-process graphics and that street firefight w/Reese against dozens of Samaritan operatives is stellar.

And Rubinek is the perfect actor for that role. He really wrings out every ounce of grace and pathos within the character/context.

"You're scared of me." Jesus. We all are, a little bit, aren't we?

Nope, I love them. The Root/Control scenes are my favorite of the series. I'd put the pair of episodes third or fourth on my list, after I-T-E, Relevance, Mors Praematura (it's a tough list to pare down)

also see their complete turn on a dime after they finally (really this time) dispatch HR in The Devil's Share and then next ep, Lethe (after some toe-dipping with Greer and Decima in earlier eps) plunge into the Samaritan storyline headfirst.

Thanks LaToya, and myriad commenters. I came to POI just a year ago and was a lurker here until recently. I wished I'd unmasked and joined you guys earlier.
This fucking show….

Not if Shaw survives.

Also worth noting, the reprises of the Til Death Do Us Part theme from I-T-E during the two Root/Shaw playground scenes. Just in case anybody wasn't already crying.

Jesus yes. Fusco sobbing and bleeding. Shaw's eyes glistening. They ripped our hearts out with that so we were already sobbing by the time Carter met her demise.

And what did Shaw actually go and do after she left Reese in DC?

I understood that she was present for all the Machine Root conversations, Finch and otherwise

Assuming they dumped him out of the car when they left, I like the idea of Monsieur Bertrand waking up in the NSA parking lot in the middle of the night muttering the French equivalent of WTF?

Is it? You've seen the discussion re the number on Root's grave being the day of God Mode, when Root first spoke to the Machine?

And hopefully with some reverse Transhumanism thrown in. The Machine/God/Tech choosing a deeply flawed human to augment itself with. Twice.
