Great read. I think theres a moral argument against replay having to do with our conceptions of fairness. (Its a bit more legal than classically philosophical but bear with me.)

I’m still pissed that Parmenides marked Zeno down at the half-yard line in 435 BC. Replay would have fixed that.

That’s what the NFL and broadcasters would have us believe.

Yeah but Watson just has the natural born ability to read a defense. That’s god-given.

“I’d be happier if there were no phones. I’m terrible about texting.”

So, Maddon is the perfect fit for this opening, right? I don’t see how it’s anyone else.

“I didn’t think he was trying to dunk on me, and I’m not naive enough to believe I know anywhere to close to as much as him.”

This perfectly demonstrates why it’s such a shame Watson is stuck with the Texans. He clearly know what’s going on while O’Brien is in the corner shrugging like a gormless idiot. I sure hope that when he hits free agency, that he’s still healthy and able to find a coach with even half an ability to make adjustments.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. It’s hard to fathom the Red Sox letting Betts go and not hear Gary Sheffield’s words ring loud in my head about MLB not wanting to invest in Black players the way they should.

Damn, where’s a journalist when you need one?

While it is possible to make a bad argument against paying players, I’m not sure how you even do that much against allowing them to make money off their likenesses.

If you are a team that can just go around buying up developed talent early positioning in the MLB draft means nothing. Hell, Mookie was drafted 172nd overall...

You’re assuming an average fan would be in the same zip code as the ball at the same time Wilkerson was - have you seen the average American?

Netanyahu is just mad his Football Manager formations never work:

Apartheid state does apartheid.

If he played for the USMNT, I guarantee he probably wasn’t very good at sports....

This happened to my long time strat-o-matic league. We played so much that we more-or-less “solved” the game. By the end, we’d have a draft, play a couple of games, and then be totally bored because we knew it well enough that we could see what was going to happen. So we’d just buy another old season and draft it since

We had to destroy the village in order to save it.

Ideally we can get rid of the major league games too. Just analyze the swings of each team’s hitters, the spin rate of each team’s pitchers, and declare a champion.

The closest minor league park (single A Lakewood) to me offers $5 general admission tickets. Children five and under do not require tickets. On Sundays and Mondays, kids eat for free. Parking is $5. So when I take my kids, 5 and 7, to a game, I pay $10 for 2 tickets and $5 for parking. Once we get inside the
