The water doesn’t have to be super cold. Regular tap water temperature is fine. How fresh are your fresh eggs? This exercise is especially interesting with store bought eggs as you get to see how not exactly fresh they may be.

Ahmmmm… Guys? I think this one is for witches, not eggs. If the woman sinks she's fine, if she floats she is a duck… or something.

I became aware of this about a year ago when I was baking something and didn't know how to figure out if my eggs were off (and was feeling far too lazy to make a trip to the store). I'm amazed at how much longer eggs will last beyond the 'expiration' date stamped on the carton. I've bought, and wasted, far fewer eggs
