Every movie you censor and send China’s way is a movie that tells the populace the system is working and that the CCP is NOT doing damage to art/freedom of expression. Because what you’re basically saying is: ‘Sure, censor away, this work of art never actually needed all those adult/objectionable/subversive scenes…

It’s very “of our time” in that it’s heavy on the villains. The villains are all presented, thankfully, as complicated & compromised people. It makes for a show that can get and stay heavy, even with snark and gross-out humor. I kind of feel like the main bad guy of The Boys is basically the kid in Brightburn all…

Now I’m just waiting for this to assume its ultimate form: “Pipe Garfield Without Pipe Garfield.”

My favorite version of these Garfield memes are the comics without Garfield’s thought balloons, featuring a sad, lonely and slightly unhinged Jon having manic conversations with his completely normal and nonplussed pet cat.
