We had a 2002 TT 225hp Quattro 6-speed roadster with Nokians for winter duty. I remember driving it from Indiana to Eastern PA through a snow storm. You really expect to see a big difference lapping the valves?  Why not just get a valve/seat grind while the head is at the shop?  I only ever lap after a valve job, not on rough and worn out valves
