I totally agree with what you’re saying, I have a parent that was super pedantic when I was growing up about NOT using “branded colloquialisms” like you’re pointing out.

I hate you and Shane Morris for this. I had initially glossed over that part of his comment until I read yours. ... Then I spent 30 minutes googling Post Modernism.

Good day, Sir and/or Ma’am!

much like Mazda wants to call the Miata the MX-5, I will have none of this reclassification bullshit.

I’ve said this at least one other time, on some other “goodbye” article from someone at G/O (GTFO) or whatever it is now. I wish I could have had the money to buy the company. I would have kept you all, I would have done the best to give the writing/editorial staff the world. I love all the things you guys have done

Except if you leave it on in the background you could literally miss half the dialogue in a segment because you need to read subtitles (unless you speak Japanese). If you didn’t like it, I suspect that you dislike travelogue style shows in general.

I think the syntax here makes it fuzzy. I read it as: someone had been arrested shortly after landing for sneaking into a first-class seat (and likely refusing to move back).

I’m sure that moment was probably special to him as well, bringing him the equivalent of a “deep cut” to sign, he probably saw you as a true enthusiast of his work.

to mask excessive pollution levels in its diesel cars, sparking a raft of prosecutions and lawsuits

Excellent pick.

Ah, I see what you’re saying. That’s fair. All good points.

I could see how that might be an issue, but it seems like it would be a logic error in the engine control because of some kind of hard-coded expectation like “If the engine revs this fast, we have to cut power because either the tires are spinning or the driveshaft exploded”. It should really be comparing to ABS

In the sense that the net result is extra power to the drivetrain, maybe, but the electric motor that they are adding is inside the drivetrain, and is not adding air to the engine, but is adding all of it’s supplemental power directly to the driveline. It’s more like adding a second engine that the original engine

I think about this sometimes too. Not an automotive engineer, but I think the combustion engine doesn’t care where the extra power comes from, as long as the air/fuel ratio is correct and all parameters look correct for the power level that the throttle/ecu says you are trying to project.

For comparison’s sake, think

Ok.... they can.... but they won’t. There has to be some legal win one way or the other for anyone to budge, and it can always be contested either way with enough backing (population or financial).

I understand what you’re saying, and I agree, there should always be a time and a place to run ICE cars (and I too wish it was everywhere and all the time), but we’re talking about a racing series. If noise restrictions were not an issue that affected performance of the cars, how many more places could you hold a

Not to mention, how many racetracks are now existentially threatened by noise limits? Problem solved?

Tails had to go park the plane....
