As awesome as this would have been, Carrie died a year before The Last Jedi hit theaters, and I believe before they went back to JJ to write and direct Rise of Skywalker. That said, I think we need to take this with a grain of salt.

The only defense I’ll give Star Wars is that, since the movies were made out of chronological order, the prequels went on to make a lot of stuff that happened in the original trilogy seem dumb.
