I think that’s the problem. The Mets have operated under these bizarre budget constraints since the Madoff scam. They’re still making plenty of money, they just choose not to spend it.
I also feel that the Mets are intentionally dragging their feet through the process hoping and praying that Philly hires Girardi so they don’t have to. Honestly, it will be Beltran. They won’t pay Girardi, and Beltran is the only guy fans won’t completely revolt against.
