If you start out as a comedian and then come to realize that you’re not actually funny, you have a couple of options. You can work on your craft and get funnier. You can surround yourself with far more talented funny people and hope nobody notices that you’re dead weight (the “News Radio” phase of Rogan’s career). Or

The height didn’t bother me. But I have read all the books and not once in any of them does Reacher smirk. If yuou haven’t read them, you’ll have to take my word for it that he comes across as a man incapable of smirking. Cruise, on the other hand, is an actor incapable of NOT smirking. His entire performance is a

Test audiences apparently found that the subplot made Patel’s character Jack—an international con artist who humiliates poor Ed Sheeran in front of the world for no good reason—unsympathetic.”

My reaction also. This is not the lead?

Given the mockumentary format, it would be strange if they acted all the time as if the cameras weren’t there. And the will they-won’t they element of the show is pretty low-key. Lots of shows take a while to hit their stride (as a fan of The Office, I didn’t warm to the US version for a while, and P&R took a season

There is precious little in pop culture that is reflective or appreciative (melodrama or not) of rural life from ANY era.”

You have got to be kidding, right. American popular and political culture is one constant reminder that the only “real Americans” live in rural states and worship at the altar of conservative

I have seen one episode (the pilot) of The Equalizer. Other than that I have never seen even a second of any of these shows. I have never even heard of the three FBI shows. I did watch the Big Bang Theory, from which I know Young Sheldon is descended, a few times.

Yellowstone always sounded like a show for people who

A little historical context helps.”

That is ther most unAmerican idea I have ever heard.

This is very close to my own list. I almost stopped the slideshow when Hard Eight was the worst, because it was the movie that first alerted me to the talents of Philip Seymour Hoffman and John C Reilly, the latter of whom I had only seen in standard supporting roles.

Boogie Nights is the most enjoyable and accessible

I just rewatched the Netflix Marvel shows and there’s a lot of good stuff there that doesn’t get enough credit in this list.

First off, The Punisher was consistently excellent from start to finish, with the strongest central performance of any of these shows. Second, Jthe first season of Jessica Jones was as good as

If your average rating of a film is 57 out of 100... you’re not having a good time at the movies.”

Actually, the average rating should be 50. I mean, look up average in the dictionary.

The joke is that the movie seemed longer than the day it was based on.

I;m with you on Budapest and Rushmore. I;d have Tanenbaums third. And I’d have Bottle Rocket quite a bit higher.

So this is not a belated sequel to the Jimmy Cliff movie?

The major omission for me is Orphan Black — for Maslany’s performance alone, but beyond that because it was just really good modern sci-fi. There are a couple dozen shows on there that didn’t come close to OB’s standard. I blame anti-Canuck bias at the BBC.

I still think a lot of the negativity about the newspaper plot came from journalists who hated it when the same scrutiny the show had given to cops, unions, teachers and every other institution was suddenly turned on the media too. I’m not saying it was the best season, or even in the top four, but it was decent

Love Stevie’s music. But how can you sing “Superstition ain’t the way” as a Christian and not hear the irony?

The only reason I read the article was to find out what he was coming back from. Still confused.
