Unsentimental, I would have said.

Shorter Bud Dawson: “Workers should shut up, be grateful they have a job, accept whatever companies choose to pay them, and never ever try to enforce their rights.”

Additional subtext: “Especially if they happen to be women.”

The first one also had Jai Courtney... they just needed Sam Worthington for the “generic white guy” trifecta. Raising the possibility of a charisma vacuum so powerful it could endanger the whole world...

By keeping the mystery alive and not offering a pat ending, the show can haunt the viewer with its unsolvable crimes. It leaves the door open for more....”

It also diminishes the hero of the story, in ths case Winslet’s Mare. If we are to believe she’s at least competent at her job, she needs to solve the mystery that

caveman bullshit made with style and wit”
This phrase captures my taste in movies perfectly. Thanks, AA.

Quixote-esque”

Something against quixotic?

Pretty much the entire last half an hour of Lonesome Dove, as Tommy Lee Jones drags Robert Duvall’s body back to the titular town. And that last interview: “Hell of a vision.”

It’s beyond tribalism. Trump and Depp have both become symbols for the “grievance of privilege” crowd -- people whose privilege has been slightly eroded and believe that makes them oppressed and victimized. It’s incels and white supremacists and libertarians all rolled up into a seething, vicious mob.

Hah. Remember when we reacted to 3,500 deaths. Now we get that every three days and half of us think it’s a liberal hoax.

I assume episodes 1 through 10 will be Colin Kaepernick.

Moi aussi.

It’s been canceled, right? So difficult to get excited about investing time in this, even though it’s the kind of trashy pulpy show I typically like (Prodigal Son was my favorite new network show this year) despite myself. Is there any hint that it might get picked up elsewhere?

I did see it, and it didn’t make much of an impression. Now I’m thinking I should give it a second look -- I am running out of lockdown entertainment so maybe it’s worth a look through the Trumpian lens.

Someone just asked me to name Connery’s best non-Bond film, and suggested The Rock. I told them to go watch this one instead.

Ha. Funny stories you know have to be about white people.

All the decent shows out there and this dross gets weekly reviews? Come on, AV Club, you can do better.

Wait, what? I thought it was William Barr guest-hosting this week so I gave it a miss.

Almost sure that this line is funnier than anything in the actual movie.
