In the mid 2000s, I saw a right hand drive 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible. Unrestored (a color change from silver to dark red was commissioned apparently around 1973) and driven by it’s owner since 1978.

Lease or buy? Online, a base-engine lease I configured with a few options was $1100 per month! At that price, a Mercedes, Audi, or even Volvo is a much better choice.
I routinely see a black/red XF S Sportbrake parked in roughly the same spot in my neighborhood here in NYC on Sundays. I think it’s an incredibly handsome wagon and decided to see what I could lease one for (not buy, I may be dumb but I ain’t that dumb). I configured a base-model Sportbrake with a few options over 36…
I married into what is a dying breed of car purchasers - people who are not necessarily car enthusiasts (compared to me at least) but prefer to drive manuals.
“We’re from that kind of Eastern European Ashkenazi Jewish background that seems to have evolved into a special kind of diminutive Shtetl Hobbit.”
One can only hope this will simply be a one time design mistake and BMW will revert to a more normal looking kidney grill a la Porsche and their failed, single generation runny egg headlight experiment for the 911 before returning to circular headlights.
An ex-girlfriend of mine’s childhood home had a replica of a 1950s diner in the basement. The house was in one of those housing developments from the early 90s that were the prelude of the modern McMansion - large, ugly, characterless houses. The only redeeming quality was the development actually had trees and…
Thanks, I'll look into it!
This purchase was well within my means (not to brag but apparently my post about an Alfa turned into some guy calling me a poor idiot). Good on you for getting one in college, I had to wait until I made some money. The first service was covered by BMW, the second was pricy as I took it to a dealer. I need to find a…
Good assumption, you’re not too far off. I wrote a larger reply to the guy directly if you’re interested but this was a very well thought out purchase.
Bingo. I wrote a longer reply if you’re interested.
With my trade in, it was downright cheap. I was out the door for about 1/3 of the price the car would have gone for only 30,000 dealer-maintained miles before.
Haha, wow, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today...
I've posted something similar before.
Good points. I don’t understand the people who buy new every couple of years and roll their negative equity into the new loan. Or, you can be like my mother who has leased an RX hybrid since the first one came out, puts no mileage on it, and gets another one. Her excuse is “the tech keeps getting better”. Ask her how…
That’s a fair point. The issue I guess is nothing on the market says to me “I need it now”. Otherwise, I’m content getting a slightly used car at a cheaper price.
Alfa Romeo Guilia, the new 3 Series, or a 4 Series Gran Coupe.
I have no doubt that if they reprised Beverly Hills Cop, it would be horrible. Like Dumb and Dumber To and Super Troopers 2.
This is disappointing.
I did, the Accord Touring quote we got at the dealer was cheaper than the FWD TLX they ended up getting. Whether they got a bad deal, I don’t know. And say what you want about comparative “feel” between the two, there is no way her 10 year old TL feels closer to a new TLX than an Accord, both cars are lightyears ahead…
