Good point but I don’t think she’d ever buy used.

Nah, mostly a price thing. Her husband hasn’t had anything but a 3 series in 20+ years and two of her kids have 3 series. Husband’s is an early e90 purchased new, kids each got theirs heavily used. If anything, they want to look better off than they are (though the husband's BMW is in truly poor condition).

Exactly. She lives in an upper class town, keeping up with the Joneses I suppose

Even a C Class was more than they wanted to spend (plus the TLX is bigger, there’s a large dog in the mix).

Its funny, her previous TL was that dark red/maroon color they used to offer...

Early 4th gen so same as you. The car had a surprisingly amount of pep even after all these years.

My MIL replaced her 160k mile, 10+ year old TL with a brand new, base level, leased TLX. She chose that over a fully loaded brand new Accord that she test drove with me and my BIL because “it feels more like my [beat, wouldn’t consistently turn off, back-up camera whose quality matched N64's Goldeneye having] Acura.”

I bought a CPO, off lease car almost exactly two years ago (actually two years ago tomorrow). It was 3 years old then, its 5 years old now and I don’t find it out of date at all. It’s got a Nav system I never use since Waze exists and a rear camera and parking sensors which are useful for parallel parking in NYC. Like

This looks like the UWS - spotted this parked on the UWS two years ago

My uncle had some factory special addition version of the next generation Evo (I don’t remember much about it, you’ll see why). It replaced a series of WRX STIs that he used as station/everyday cars. He said it was the worst car he ever owned by far and quickly replaced it with another WRX STI before moving up to V8

Yup, great timing. 18 months away from graduating business school and probably another 12 or so after before I move to the suburbs (where, my wife, said I could purchase a fun car).

Forget about the Datsun, look at the second picture where it’s damaged! Not only are we supposed to believe an old Datsun would be structurally rust-free in Buffalo, but also that it would be casually parked along with a W116 Mercedes, a first generation Explorer (Eddie Bauer edition?), and something else that looks

Hasn’t happened yet but it will.

Where are those Ferraris?

2008, going back to school from Westchester County to Western New York either after winter break or Thanksgiving break. I was in the car with two of my friends. We get on I287 in White Plains going towards the Tappan Zee Bridge. Traffic is stop and go. No problem, must be roadwork or an accident, it will clear up

I saw one of those in Greenpoint this week. It had two labels (front and back) that said "Public road use prohibited" however it had antique Utah plates...

Swing and a miss everyone. Get a Volvo 240. I have an Instagram where I post interesting/old/rare cars I spot in NYC. The 240 Volvos are so plentiful that I don’t even take pictures of them anymore (even though the newest example is 25 years old). Sure, it’s a hipster-cliche car and it’s the poorer hipster’s version

Argh, Instagram is @blumalago7 if anyone cares. Stupid typos...

Also seen these three

Midtown about a decade ago (hence the garbage picture). Even better, the owner appeared to be a younger (30s) Hasidic guy complete with the long beard, payos, and a black hat.
