My sister is a high-school teacher, and for some reason had an old Motorola flip phone one day and decided to show a class how we texted in high-school/college without looking and with one hand. The ability to text without looking at the screen was key in a few scenes in “The Departed” (2006). As I remember Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio each send at least one secret text with their hand and flip phone in their pocket so others around them can’t see them sending it.

mixed dude with an afro - went to tokyo and had a fantastic time. My traveling partner, who is also black (and much darker than I) said she felt much less “othered” than she did when travelling in Europe. Also we ran into some fellow black people in Akihabara buying figures. So at least for Tokyo: don’t worry about it.
