I think these are really cute, but idk if that’s because 1) I’m a lady, 2) I have questionable taste, or 3) both. I have the Fila Squirtle Velcro shoes from South Korea too, so I mean why not buy these...they’d look cute with a dress imo

Ah, Infinite! They caught my eye with Dashi dorawa and I’ve been a fan ever since! I was lucky enough to catch them in concert when they toured the US a number of years back.
I have a Pixel 3XL and love it - the hate over the notch is really overblown. I never notice it. As for headphones, I actually really like the USB-C headphones (can’t use Bluetooth at work) and Google’s offering is cheaper and better quality than other USB-C headphones I’ve seen.
X-2 gets a lottt of hate but I really really enjoyed it when it came out. Pop songs? Magical girl transformations? It was heaven for a teenage girl.
Yep you’re more accurate. I just meant that she isn’t a cat - that doesn’t necessarily mean she’s human though!
Makes sense, since Hello Kitty is apparently a human girl.
Wow, I know I'm late on this one but the comment section for this post is a shitshow! Anyways I just wanted to drop in to say thank you so much for the hard work you've put into this series. As a linguistics nerd I love this kind of focus on language and translation.
I wanna be this cool when I grow up lol. I personally like to see people keep some personality in the professional world.
Hopefully I get here before any squabbling, but I really think that at the end of the day it all comes down to preference. I have a Pixel 3XL and my SO has a Samsung Note - we’re both pretty happy with our choices. I do want to give Samsung credit though...they’ve come a long way since OG TouchWiz.
I did think that Get Out was better than Us, but I really enjoyed Us anyway. I think it does a better job in terms of starting a discussion, whether you want to talk about class, the intersection between class and race, or the prison industrial complex. I think I want to see it a second time, because there are some…
Yep, I love my Chomecasts. It’s easy to use and I don’t have to interact with any clunky UIs. I only really ever turn on my tv to use it, if I’m being honest.
That’s true. I do think there’s still space for cheese in the genre though. I still watch Tales from the Darkside at least once a year for instance, and that’s pretty cheesy at times.
So I saw season 1 and the first episode of No End House. Thanks for the reminder to pick it back up :)
I haven’t - it had been in my wish list for a while but it’s a bit expensive (I get why, I’m sure this is a textbook for her class on Black horror). That’s why I was super happy to see a documentary on Shudder, I can afford that :)
A lot of it is people just wanting to be contrarians.
I’m looking forward to a year’s worth of comments saying Us is overrated/ Us wasn’t actually that good of a movie/ why does everyone keep talking about Us/ stop shoving Us down our throats. /s
The game looks gorgeous!!! I'm beyond excited. Scorbunny looks cool but little sobble has taken my heart. Waiting to see the secondary types before I start to commit to one though!
People disingenuously conflating cultural (mis)appropriation and cultural appreciation? Must be a day that ends in Y. There’s a difference between engaging in a practice that shows your appreciation and understanding of a culture within the right context (aka sharing cultures), and taking something inspired by a…
Johnnys, right? I was a fan of Kanjani 8 and NEWS before Yamapi and Ryo Nishikido left. You’re completely right - Kpop agencies have done a lot of work in making K-pop accessible. It feels impossible to really get into new Japanese male idol music outside of Asia by comparison. Even Shinee’s Japanese releases have…
As a HUGE Shinee fan, I approve.
