Kroenke!
Kroenke!
Marlies are the first duh.
That was my first thought.
Yes. I was digging through the comments hoping SOMEBODY would point this out. Howard and Hanks were on this 20+ years ago. Still a very cool video.
He stole a season from all 30 teams actually.
Agreed. No reason it can’t still be a nice venue for another 15 or even 20 years, but it is going to need some upkeep and renovations.
Deadspin is far too opportunistic in their reporting on all of this stuff. They will on one hand post any number of articles mocking St. Louis for being a city of inbred racists, then post articles saying no city should ever fund a NFL stadium with public money, then post an article decrying the relocation of…
Yeah, well Kroenke insisted that he had zero intentions of moving the Rams out of St. Louis when he became the majority owner. You can’t really believe anything that these guys say.
Yeah I know the whole sellout in name only thing is an issue, but it really wasn’t in St. Louis for that time period in question. People absolutely flipped out over the Rams for as long as it was reasonable to continue supporting them. But eventually the fact that they had 4 winning seasons in 20+ years kind of took…
Rams fans sold out every home game from when they arrived in town in the ‘95 up until December of ‘06 for a Christmas Eve game between two teams out of the playoff picture (100 straight games including playoffs). In ‘07 they went 3-13 which started the worst 5 year stretch of any NFL franchise in history. They’re…
And the Jaguars are owned by a guy from the St. Louis area. Expect to hear that narrative come up every few days until he can get a new stadium deal of his own somewhere.
How does this not have every star?
The Rams had statistically the worst win percentage of any NFL team (.299) over the 9 year period from 2005-2013. In the middle of that from 2007-2011, they had the worst 5 year stretch of any team in NFL history (.188).
The EJD is a bit of a dump, yes. Really it was just an underwhelming building from the start. It was the last fully domed stadium built other than Ford Field in Detroit, and it directly preceded a run of outdoor/ retractible roof stadiums that were built later in the 90s and into the 00s.
The reason why St. Louis no longer cares is because they realized awhile ago how awful of an owner/person Stan Kroenke is. People here are disappointed to lose the Rams but it’s more of a numb depression than anything. The fate of the team has been telegraphed since Kroenke took over full ownership in 2009, no matter…
Your friend was Homer Simpson?
You can spot Unbreakable a mile away. I actually still really like that movie, but that one is way more telegraphed than Sixth Sense.
I was in high school for TPM and my brother and I waited in a long ass line to buy tickets when they went on sale weeks in advance. We were talking to this asshole in front of us, and he casually drops into the conversation that Maul gets cut in half at the end. I don’t even think it occurred to him that somebody…
I think that’s a fair assumption re: Jeter, but not Manning. Frankly, the general public just doesn’t care if NFL players use PEDs.
As a Cards fan, I can say that there is nobody in sports more entitled than the batshit religiously obsessive contingent of Cards fans. I love that goddamn team, but fuck are the fans whiney assholes sometimes. We’ve had 4 trips to the World Series in the last decade or so and 2 Championships. We won 100 games last…
