I have updates disabled and run them every few months manually.

Why is everyone obsessed with boot times? How often do you restart? I restart mine monthly, and when I do I get up to grab a drink and it’s ready to go when I get back.

I know this may work for some, but of course it’s not “one size fits all” for everyone. I could cut out my car by living close to work, but the cost of rent would jump up by more than I am saving. And unfortunately public transportation is awful where I live.

But many people who qualify for this are already going to the doc on a regular basis, making this no cost.
