I work in immigration. Some days I have to almost physically remind myself that there are areas that are outside of my control, and that I can’t do good work by ignoring what I can do to obsess over what I can’t.

And after thousands of people are dead and the killing tapers off, we’ll all read long-form pieces in The New Yorker about this, Netflix will produce a documentary on it, and a movie about it will win an oscar and everyone will say “Never again...”

Religion is a highly effective tool for dehumanizing entire groups of people. I have yet to see a government that hasn’t utilized it as such.
