As a black woman who loves to cosplay, I have to say I can identify completely with the feelings in this article. There are so many layers to these issues so its easy to see why so many of these comments boarder on the “everyone has issues” “get over race” side of the fence. It is impossible to explain this experience

I agree with a fellow commenter , your eventual point was ok, but you opened with erasing the experiences of these people by saying that “everyone” has struggles with cosplay. Deliberately ignoring that the specific point of *this* is about black/African American issues with playing.

Dear God, I can hear you sliding your glasses up your nose...

Sure.

I know my president’s words/thoughts on this. Neil didn’t say he wasn’t going to vote for Hillary, he implied that we needed better choices, which we do. The Democratic party treated Hillary like she was a forgone conclusion. We got no better options. Obama is/was doing his job, inciting people to vote for Hillary,

Just because he doesn’t necessarily support Hillary doesn’t mean he was a Bernie supporter. People forget how lukewarm and difficult this election has been for black people to navigate.

We got through the line at the store, walked them through the

You literally came here to say exactly this.

This doesn’t seem to be marked down anymore :(

Yesss!! I am here for Sandlot references!

UGH, Joan!! The beginning of that season was SO HORRIBLE for her. it all made me violent.

lol... “baby business”

Yea, that wasn’t cool... some of us are obnoxious.

If I was a white person I would find this really offensive. This logic implies that white people (that what “wide/largest audience” means) won’t identify with a person of color as the lead. I’ve heard this argument several times and I honestly wonder if white people realize that they’re arguing that white people can’t
