The game cannot, by rule, end on a defensive foul. If there is no time left and the defense commits a penalty, the offense is allowed one more untimed down to play. 

The really stupid part is that there was another receiver right in front of Allen around the 10-yard line who was a safer throw AND wide open. Sure, it wouldn’t have gotten them a touchdown, but it would have gotten them a first down. 

If the police weren’t cooperating, did the Chiefs really have any choice but to believe Hunt? If they couldn’t get access to the video, it would likely be difficult as well to interview the witnesses. And if they fired him without solid proof, he could file a grievance.
