The unfortunate reality is that 99% of Idaho’s Republican representation is so morally bankrupt that they would have still passed these bills even if the entire world had been paying attention.

The problem with that POV is that birth certificates are tied to a number of identity documents, so if the sex recorded on it doesn’t match your lived gender, it can make it very difficult for trans individuals to get documentation that accurately reflects their gender identity.

Idaho resident here. In addition to supporting refugees, Chobani is one of the major Idaho companies that urged the governor to veto the bill. If anything, I’d suggest buying more of their yogurt. It’s one of the few large corporations that seems to be really trying to conduct itself in a moral fashion.

Idahoan here. If I remember right, a couple of teenagers got prosecuted under the fornication law sometime in the last ten years, due to the intervention of one of their parents. I’m a bit fuzzy on the details, but it was definitely a head meets desk moment for the saner residents of the state.
