Wow, I had no idea. Amazing that Chrysler paid $25MM for the company, and even more amazing that they sold it on to a Bermuda company called MegaTech. Pretty appropriate that MegaTech was controlled by Suharto’s son, who looks like exactly the kind of coked up criminal playboy that comprises Lamborghini’s core

I don’t know about that. I was close to getting a Taycan, and it is a really lovely car. But even though the real-world range is supposedly better than the EPA rating, I just feel like I’m going to take a huge bath on an expensive car when I go to sell something in four years that has a range of 250 miles. I think

Agreed. My anecdotal view, though, is that these Jags are mostly bought / leased because they don’t sell well at all and there are deals to be had, so relatively speaking you can get more for your money than the equivalent BMW, Audi or Mercedes, base price notwithstanding. Given how terrible Jaguar’s sales have been

The exterior dimensions of the Ioniq are actually more than the RAV4, and because of the packaging the interior likely feels much more spacious.

This was my first reaction when I saw it. I’ve always wanted an Integrale Evolution. Maybe I can get this instead.

Correct headline (applies to virtually all EV startups): Failing Investment Scam Seeks Assistance From Media.

I had the previous generation Outback with a manual (which I don’t think was offered in the US, just in Canada). It was actually pretty dismal, since they only offered it on pretty much the lowest spec. trim with the world’s worst audio system. The transmission itself was pretty notchy and unsatisfying to shift. I

This is basically the Canadian federal government EV credit. It’s $5k (CAD) and applies only to vehicles with a price before options of under $45k. There is some wiggle room (e.g. we got it for the Soul EV with the larger battery, which is about $52k, but because there is a Soul EV with a smaller battery below the

Also important to remember that “early” and “late” are often exactly the same as “wrong.”

Funnily enough, I sold my 991.2 GTS manual last year. I could have held onto it for a few more months and gotten an extra $25k easily. I regret selling the car more than I do missing out on the cash, so I guess that further explains why people are paying up.

It’s funny how biased people are towards real estate as an asset class, to the extent that even flat-out scams like timeshares are able to be sold.

Yes, came here to say this. Every car is an appreciable asset, in the same way that everyone can eventually find a date, but virtually every car is not an appreciating asset.

I really don’t know what point you’re making here. People don’t use or need a/c in the UK? It’s never hot there? Latitude is the only determinant of climate? Car interiors don’t get hot when they’re sitting in the sun?

Please get back to us when you’ve spent a winter in Winnipeg and a winter in London.

Growing up in the UK in the ‘70s and ‘80s, a/c was still considered a decadent luxury. I remember the inferno-like heat of the vinyl seats in my dad’s VW Variant. The Variant’s seats had a knobbly finish that would sear an imprint into your skin if you were wearing shorts.

Yes, these cars were considered dog slow when new, let alone 30 years later (12.3 seconds 0-60!). Also no a/c, and let’s not forget that this was probably the least practical wagon you could buy in its era. The trunk is really tiny.

I think this is the crux of the issue. The only reason the solar roof exists is that Elon wanted to dupe investors into believing the acquisition of Solar City was a good idea, when in fact it was a way to bail out his cousins who ran the company. It has never been a good idea, any more than the ludicrous “solar road”

I think I would go with the Lambo as the ultimate in dumb SUVs, because it’s sort of the ultimate car for people who truly know nothing about cars.

So much this. I’m not going to watch the video, since one zealot is one too many after the day I’ve had. But that is just incredible to be in the cult but not own one of the cars. It’s like being a Scientologist and not having seen any Tom Cruise movies.

Agreed. It’s actually the first Ferrari in a while that I would like to own. The plastering of the “Roma” name over parts of the interior is probably the only thing I don’t like about it. Overall it’s like an Italian Aston Martin, but unlike an Aston Martin is likely not disappointing in the detail of its execution.
