FFS. One primary in and one wonky caucus. We have NINE months to go. She’s being ignored when she’s the only progressive that explains things - and it doesn’t feel condescending to me.
No kidding.
The weirder Don Johnson detail was that, much later, he and Griffith reunited, married, and had Dakota Johnson — the earlier predation (he was in his early 20s when she was 14) was then framed as a “first love/true love” narrative.
I think Americans are especially harsh on the French simply because France is harboring one of our most infamous offenders and has been for decades now. Helping Polanski evade justice seems like such a slight that we tend to hit back harder than we necessarily have a right to.
Both things can be true - that France has a sexism problem (like any other country) and that Americans are puritanical. I mean, puritanism is at the heart of the origins of your country, it makes sense that it would still be present in society.
I mean, America is so puritanical on one side, and so perverse on the other, it is kind of ironic. very.
It’s incredibly depressing that women older than 25 feel the effects of ageism
100% this. She was reportedly paid $1 million for Saturday’s concert, which was actually a shorter and less technically complicated version of the Vegas show where she’s also raking in the bucks by doing only a handful of shows a year.
Some fun mean gossip on Bradley: years ago, a vindictive PA who used to work for Courtney Love leaked a bunch of her text messages, and in them she talks about hooking up with Bradley Cooper specifically because she knew he was dating Renee Zellweger and that gave her a power trip. So I believe he’s at least bisexual,…

When did the Monster flagship colors become the new hotness?
Citing bad faith merchants and never-Obama Progs like Firedoglake and Glenn Greenwald makes it a lot easier to see that you’re being dishonest.
Preach.
I’m old enough to have purchased my own health coverage before the ACA as a woman in my 30's. Paying extra for coverage of my allergies as a “pre-existing condition”. Having to sign a waiver of pregnancy coverage to get my premium down, when I already had tubal ligation done. Getting charged a higher rate based…
This. Also— can we just fucking stop pretending that the ACA was nothing— it was literally the single most important piece of progressive legislation to pass in half a century. It expanded Medicaid coverage for ten’s of millions of Americans.
This is going to feel like a quibble, but it feeds into an existing (and not inaccurate) narrative about Bernie.
He didn’t run on a progressive platform. He ran on the equivalent to national “Romney Care” which wasn’t A to begin with, it was a public option. He delivered the ACA. He ran on “clean coal”, which is a laughable concept itself, and delivered improved environmental protections. He ran on bringing back troops from…
This is a perfect illustration of my point. Obama is still being dragged like he didn’t try.
Honestly, when so much of the immediate change will be dependent on executive action; I’m more confident in a law professor who specialized in consumer law making those changes in ways to protect them from the next Republican to take office.
Bernie has never lit a fire for me, I have to say. I find it interesting how powerful people’s perspective proves to be - Bernie lovers are convinced he’s for the people, while other camps are convinced he’s an egomaniac. Yet both groups point to his actions/words/etc as proof.
