I didn’t mean she got squashed (I meant that she and Allred are examples of those who can win if they avoid getting squashed)—I meant that some of the types like Underwood get squashed when they try and run.

Yeah, not saying Pelosi doesn’t have a huge share of the blame and I’m side eyeing the hell out of her for going after those four in particular—sure, twitter probably does play a part, but we all know there is some racism in play.

Yep. I feel like everyone is getting caught up in their justified rage at Pelosi and some moderates to ignore that a lot of moderate-ish to center left Southern Democrats—the ones the Justice Dems keep targeting almost disproportionately compared to non-Black politicians who aren’t completely left—are Black. Justice

Meh, I feel like I’m the only one who thinks pretty much no one looks good in this situation except Ayanna who said her focus is on her constituents.

Several years ago she had a brief, somewhat cliche “dark” period like many musicians—she said she was in a very bad place mentally/physically (probably hard drugs)—and made some bizarre choices (and I say this as a fan).

I’ve read up on this a bit and apparently her original label said they would give her masters back if she produced an original new album for each masters. So....she would have been stuck at the label for another ten or so years to get her masters back and been required to give them six new albums.

I honestly feel bad for her. I believe she’s in the right—but I also think she’s handled this in a very clumsy way. She should have never brought up Kim and Kanye, because that’s allowed them to turn it around and say “she’s lying again/being a bully again.”

Apparently he told her the only way she could get her masters is if she agreed to do a quid pro quo sort of thing. For every new album she produced, he would give her one of her masters back....so she would have been stuck with him for at least another ten years.

Sorry, misread your original post. Yes, I agree it isn’t revenge porn even if it was very f*cked up. Maybe not now, but back when it first happened people were hardcore defending the video and claiming it was art, etc. despite him putting “Rihanna” naked near Chris Brown, among other shit.

No, she’s stated she never got a fair chance to get her masters. Her only opportunity was to do one album for the label to get one masters back, which would chain her to the label until she was 40.

I’m not a Taylor fan but that Kanye video was insanely fucked up—and this is coming from someone who doesn’t have an issue with controversial art most of the time. I’m still amazed, years later, that Taylor was seen as the “bad guy” for hating that video.

You don’t have to like Taylor to realize the idea that she didn’t try to purchase her masters is BS. Pretty much every artist would murder someone to have their masters, and there are receipts of Taylor for years saying she wants her masters. Taylor may be one of the most powerful women in music, but of course Variety

I don’t believe him for a second. Most artists would kill to own their masters, and whatever people say about Taylor Swift people almost universally agree she’s a good businesswoman. There is no way she turned down a chance to own her masters. Also, people have been bringing receipts about her talking for years about

She doesn’t have the vocals of Tituss tho.

Honestly, if both of them weren’t such ego maniacs they wouldn’t have run and instead chosen to endorse Warren and Harris...Instead we have this clusterfuck.

I will say Waleed should watch it tho on the bussing—the man is clearly in the bag for Bernie and Bernie was also anti-bussing (which Waleed has said crickets about).

I agree that we give too much credit to wealthy, white celeb allies and/or members of the community—and that Gaga can be hyperbolic as fuck as she was in this case and at times self-centered.

No, I’m saying I feel like being older-like you and I (old being relative, lol)—can make Taylor seem half hearted compared to earlier pop girls who spoke out when it was more of a risk. So while we’re like the sentiment is nice, some of us think it’s pandering as you said because we remember when stars did this 8-10

Ugh, Enty. Yes, “yachters” are a thing but I thought people stopped clicking on his racist, misogynistic site full of bullshit.

I think part of is because Gaga, Katy (and yeah, even with her problematic Ur so Gay song), and Rihanna all spoke out or showed their support long before Swift—especially Gaga, who was campaigning against Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, among other things. Most of us late 20s + remember how drastically the public opinion has
