This is an excellent catch and I’m sad I didn’t catch it first. There is a big difference between too drunk to have sex and too drunk to consent.

In this case that may be so. But what do we charge them with? How can they be responsible for a sexual assault they didn’t perform? Worse, aren’t they supposed to stay out of the fray and just monitor?

True, but I’m even wondering what happens when both people aren’t in control of their faculties. So he is drunk, she is drunk, neither are making decisions they would make without liquid courage. Who is responsible when neither party is acting responsibly?

This. It’s also the one aspect of consent I’ve always struggled with: when both people are shit faced, who is responsible? Neither person was in control of their behavior. DeMario’s narrative is that she sat on his face, not that he forced himself on her.

I feel they may have a point with this one though. I mean the point of the Babadook is that it is a monster that has only one purpose: to murder children. I mean that is the character: it tries to murder a child throughout the movie, it is its only directive, its only character trait.

Tza had a really good summary, but I still feel the need to point out that gay people shouldn’t be so enthusiastic about a monster who only wants to kill children being our new mascot.

I’m really sort of aghast at the idea that the Babadook is our future, mostly because the idea of a monster whose only desire is to murder small children is something I never thought gay people would want to represent us.
