Lazy? Unimaginative?

Watching this made me queasy.

Blazing Saddles - like all Mel Brooks stuff - begins and ends with a good idea. His humor is similar to Mike Meyers in that he presents a gag (often a crude one), and then follows it up with an explanation. The joke rarely ends with a punch line.
