Why would the Pelicans compete to make that 8th playoff spot to get throttled by the Warriors, when they could instead tank and hope for the lottery?

The Hawks actually have a pretty good shot to get the 32nd pick, that is, the 2nd pick in the 2nd round. They’d also have the 2nd pick in the 1st round in that scenario. (Which is just a kind of jerk-y way to say that there are only 30 teams in the NBA, not 32, as your comment suggested. I agree with your comment

He had articles written about him in snowboarding magazines when he was literally seven years old.

Or a praying mantis. Or that antlers are not horns. Of her many talents, wildlife biology is not one.

He’s kind of an asshole (see the Bill Kennedy stuff, numerous stories from his time at UK, etc.). He’s also extremely intelligent and does a lot of really great community work and doesn’t seek any attention for it. Complex dude.

Wait, so you’re saying that an athlete has a particular physical characteristic that gives her an edge over her competition? That all people are not equally physically endowed with the qualities that would help them succeed in particular sports? That’s fucked up, man.

On this subject, I always found the early scene in the first Nolan movie where Wayne escapes from the temple of shadow really confounding. In order to avoid killing one guy, he blows the entire place up, likely killing many more people. ?????

Just saw someone else already made the same comment. Didn’t mean to pile on.

Agree WCS may be better right now, but getting Fox, who has great potential, at 5 is better than getting WCS, who has some very valuable skills but is overall a limited player, at 6. IMHO.

Yup. This is the outcome when the benefits of putting out a story early outweigh the consequences of being wrong. Similar to how the GOP is finding out that they don’t face consequences from their base (or the media, really) when repeatedly caught in bald-faced lies.

Cavs would have to give up too much to get off his contract. That’s it.

Cavs said it’s something Wade requested seeing that he wasn’t going to get real minutes with the lineup. They told LeBron about it before they did it and he said he understood. So more a goodwill gesture to Wade than an FU to LeBron.

Don’t forget about the Nets pick, Jae Crowder, and Ante Zizic! Actually, you can forget about Crowder and Zizic, but that Nets pick is . . . something.

Seems like they concluded that he wasn’t going to help them this year and that they didn’t want to pay him this summer, especially with it looking like LeBron is on his way out. I think it always most likely that they wouldn’t resign him this summer unless LeBron was coming back and he had returned to form. This is

I guess we just have different definitions of the word “shelter.” To me, that word does not encompass basic, reasonable measures to protect a child from harm. Or maybe, you actually believe that, contrary to the available evidence, playing football poses only a “minute probability” of long term brain damage. I, after

Please explain to me how not letting my child play a sport which is definitively shown to likely damage his brain is “entitling” him (to what? a properly functioning mind?) or “overly sheltering” him? What level of brain trauma is required for you to deem prohibiting a dangerous sport an act of reasonable protection

Boxing is actually a good model for what will likely to football. It will still be played, but by far fewer people, will attract far fewer top athletes, and will significantly recede from the national consciousness and end up being more of a niche sport. It won’t disappear, but it will not be the cultural force that

They were taken from the attic, in the top of the house by the roof.

Or slang for good weed.

All Thunder opponents will feel fortunate that Roberson isn’t playing the rest of this season. He’s easily one of the 3 best perimeter defenders in the league and makes the Thunder significantly better. He is obviously terribly flawed offensively, but still a net positive on this team by a big margin.
