I disagree, especially on Colbert, who has basically built his entire Late Show career centered around Trump.

It used to be that although most of the late night shows leaned left, they still appealed to the majority of the country. Like Carson (who was a liberal) didn’t let his political leanings become the entire focus of the show. Or later, even Letterman or even Leno.
He was great as an anchor, delivering pre-prepared segments and reading the news, but was very, very awkward doing interviews or “off-the-cuff” stuff, which Stewart absolute crushed him at.
Kilborn was even better at reading the funny news headlines/segments than Stewart ever was, but he was an often terrible interviewer.
