I used to live in a duplex next to some college-aged kids who played their techno at full-blast at all hours. I finally just put on John Zorn’s Spy vs. Spy (his take on Ornette, but *much* heavier), cranked it and went for a drive. Never had a problem again.

We need more people like Coleman to shake things up and keep music fresh and vibrant.

The man made music that was always challenging. Always. There have been times when Skies of America might be the greatest music I’ve ever heard, and times when I want to smash that album into a thousand pieces.

Ornette Colman was next level before there was a term next level. HE WAS THE REASON WHY WE NEEDED THE TERM IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Nothing against Kate Bush, but of all of my wife’s moderately extensive collection of late 70s/80s British music, Kate Bush is the only thing I veto in the car. Some of the notes she hits makes me think I have CV joint that’s seized up.
