I’ve run into that problem, so i’ve condensed them into 3-4 settlements I care about, and let the others get wiped out. If you go to the FAR right of the map, there is an island called Spectacle Island. Once you clear it out (you can do it on your own without Preston.) You have an entire freaking island to build on.

You have to only pick up what you need, plus if you have a companion they can also carry stuff for you.

If you think Fallout is considered grinding, then you’ve never played Destiny.

I can do the same thing with gravity off, and an empty map with no players trying to murder me. I’d be more impressed if this stuff was in the campaign levels. You can modify a lot of stuff in custom games.
