He’s written himself into a corner. The thing is too vast and sprawling to pull together into an ending. He’s paying the price for having 50 main characters, tbf.

[From a creative standpoint, I’m sure he genuinely wants to finish what he started, regardless of public opinion. I don’t see how you can build up such a vast universe and not want to give yourself personal closure.]

“I don’t see how you can build up such a vast universe and not want to give yourself personal closure.”

Soldier in the Mist.

Was that scene supposed to be set during the BB pilot?I wondered but thought it would have to be long before that. No divorce takes 4 years to do.

Are there any other famous examples of a fictional series not being finished before its creator passed away?

honestly I think Howard was kind of accurate when he said “you do it for the thrill like Leopold and Loeb.” The money, or just pure revenge on Howard don’t totally add up, but they’re contributing factors, but I think it was mainly those schemes that fueled their relationship.

He dragged her down to his level

This is a really key moment in the show that is often overlooked. Jimmy’s actions at the hearing could be somewhat justified as self-defense against Chuck’s relentless grudge against him. But that petty, completely unnecessary action of letting the insurance agent know about Chuck’s condition, really set events in

I agree. SNL has a terrible format.

Rhea spoke specifically about this on Talking Saul.

Because there’s a difference between divorcing someone and burying them. And she didn’t even get the chance to do that. You can dislike someone and not want anything to do with them on a personal/intimate level and still feel grief when they die. Especially when you had previously been married to them.

Rhea looks like a 1940s goddess in B&W

Someone on another board mentioned this, and I think there are a couple of reasons:

Symbolism of the lyrics aside, biggest laugh of the episode for me was Gene doing that thing we’ve all done, belting into the chorus of a song, before faltering on realising it’s gone back into the verse, mumbling along to the lyrics you don’t really remember, until the chorus comes back around... “The TIDE IS HIGH,

“... a reminder that there is nothing the writers of this universe love more than the characters being hoisted by their own petards.”

It’s a truly fantastic book with an unmatched level of detail. If Lewisohn manages to complete the trilogy (11 years from now?), I think it’ll end up as the definitive Beatles biography.

The Incredibles in the top 10???!!? NOPE.

Binged s1-5 on Netflix. Thank god

Saul was depicted more positively in Better Call Saul than in Breaking Bad, and I thought there was a chance that the show would give him a happy-ish or mixed ending. But I think this episode closed the door on that. It’s clear the final verdict on Saul that the show is heading towards — that he is a selfish, reckless
