I really love the arc of the first season of Mad Men. This reveal to Burt could of been the climax we thought the season was building up to, and then Robert Morse just downplays it so beautifully and wisely.

Where was it confirmed there’d be two episodes of only Gene?

No Gene to start the season!

Wow, this comments section is not what it used to be. Glad the show is back, but a lot has changed around these parts in the two years since season 5...

2 YEARS OF WAITING. IT’S FINALLY BACK!!

Breaking Bad’s antihero arc with Walter White was incredibly influential at the time it was done, and it’s still a great show. But I think Vince Gilligan was also observing what his AMC counterpart, Matthew Weiner, was doing with Mad Men at the same time and realized just how deep you could go with character work and

Really glad I rewatched the whole series last month in anticipation for this. It almost felt like I was watching season 1 for the first time again. Can’t believe the show premiered seven years ago!

The most recent season finale would not have worked as a series finale at all. Because nothing was resolved...

I felt the same way about Hank and Gomez’s return in season 5. The sense of surprise would have been nice, but I guess they need the publicity as well announcing it in advance.

Well, that animated spinoff called Slippin’ Jimmy is happening. You certainly wouldn’t know it from the fact none of the cast or crew ever cares to mention it...

I do wonder if Bob Dylan ever truly had any intention or ideas for a Volume 2 of Chronicles. You would think the man has more interesting periods of his life to write about than just the three or four covered in Volume 1.

Always liked this performance he did. Sang lead vocals on an unfinished Dennis Wilson recording from the 70s.

Are these reviews purposefully being left off the home page?

If he is doing publicity right now because of Severance, let me take this opportunity to say that Severance is an amazing show and it’s a tragedy the AV Club is not doing weekly reviews of it right now.

I remember Vince saying in an interview not too far back that he’s probably not going to be making anything BB-related for a long time (if ever) after Saul. Something along the lines of he’d like for it not to be the only thing he’s remembered for. So I definitely think it’s going to be something different.

Gene is the face of the final season poster. I’m very curious how much screen time he’s gonna have. He’s probably been on screen for all of a half hour total so far, right?

It has been a two year wait, everyone. I am so pumped.

Mr. Dowd,

I just hope they don’t break out of the formula where every episode has to take place at the event the catering service is working and nowhere else.
