I wasn't so sure about the 768 but a 14" widescreen is pretty small vertically. If the screen were more hi-res it would be pretty hard to read anything on it. So far I'm happy and I'm hoping I'll continue to be happy once I actually start using it for classes.

You can just add your parents to their own list and restrict permissions, they probably wouldn't even notice (though the Google+ Circles makes this even easier).

And Facebook is pretty much moving in this direction as well with the creation of @facebook.com email addresses. Honestly, I'd rather get private messages in my email inbox than in a private message inbox on some other site. Google is all about service integration and I think this is a logical way to do it.
