The real reason is because the styling group and the engineering group are separate groups. Thats not entirely a bad thing (have you seen how engineers dress...i kid...) but it does mean that there are things that are engineered and thing that are styled and where the two meet is a place called “online criticism”

Because then the tips never quite line up right as the exhaust moves under the car or as the exhaust hangers wear out. When the fake tips are attached to the bumper instead, they always look like they are in the right spot.
