The cops in the US are just way too aggressive in general. Even if they’re not shooting, they’re puffing up and yelling at you even if you’re just asking them if they know where the post office is or whether the street parking is metered.

I mean jeez, as an intern I worked a case where I kid yelled, “I’m gonna stab you, I’m gonna stab you” at a cop and lunged at him with a bigknife, and the cop just took the knife away from the kid. That’s what a decent cop would do.
