Diablo has had seasons/ladders for a long time. You absolutely dont need to participate in them. I’ve played a handful of D3 seasons to get the little incentives/cosmetics they give you, but I’ve never played a D2 ladder after outfitting a non-ladder hammerdin, sorc, etc.
