No one is going to make a “Tesla Killer” until they build the charging infrastructure that Tesla has, or they make their car compatible with Superchargers. The cars aren’t the selling feature, it’s the charging stations.

At the moment my daily driver is a crappy rusted roof 2005 Prius that cost me $800 but I’m still getting around town…

4,000 will buy you a perfectly suitable used commuter car. You don’t need a big fancy truck when your trying to get back on your feet. Sounds like the cycle just repeats itself.
