Sorry, I tried to explain this better in another post. We don't really know anything about what motivates the night king, or who he is for that matter. But I have a feeling the show is setting us up for Jon to take over beyond the wall…

Exciting stuff. Thanks

good point

So Dany = fire because she has dragons and is immune to fire
And Jon = ice because he was once dead?

Could it be that the Night's King has no sway on those who've come back from the dead?

Yes - but what is "ice" about him other than his name being snow?
Unless his destiny is to unite with the Night's King - or become it.

I think now that he's no longer drunk and bitter he's watching Dany with a more critical eye.

And who witnessed that?

I don't think so. Cersei has built up her power playing the game of Westeros intrigue better than anyone. She can't be beaten there.

"It's hard to explain."
**explains it in the creepiest way possible.**

Are we being set up for Jon/Dany aligning with the Night's King? They've made allies of every other pariah group they've faced. And we have no inkling yet what the "ice" uniting with fire is supposed to mean, other than Jon's name being snow.

The door to reconciliation with Tyrion is open. Will he defect if Dany's disadvantage becomes great enough?

I don't see her exposing the wolves to danger like that, and I'm not sure that they can be manipulated other than by warging. Also, I'm not sure she needs them.

I still feel that we're being set up for some kind of big surprise from Tyrion.
-Dany's increasing suspicion of her advisors
-Tyrion's helping the slim Lannister chances with his convoluted battle strategy
-Summoning Jon Snow to Dragonstone

Is Tyrion working for Jaime again, or was that just a really bad plan?

Could someone explain the strategy in the last scene? They caught up to the mutants with a massive advantage in numbers and firepower, and the plan was to gather them together and give a speech?

Whatever you're paying your headline writers, it isn't enough.

As an aside (not strictly related to this episode) why does the side with superior numbers always seem to be terrible at strategy?

This show has gone from blow (your mind) to suck. Unacceptable levels of suckage. It would be easy to blame the Elektra performance and subplot, but she isn't even a small part of the problem. Every performance has deteriorated as has the writing and the production. Hack writing and formulaic procedural plotlines with

and trevor noah sincerely regrets what he said on twitter before he knew he would be mainstream?
