Gotta love all the “sure cancel culture didn’t kill him... but maybe it did?” replies you’ve got already.
lazy phlebotomists?
National Suicide Prevention Hotline: 1-800-273-8255
Well Said.
Trolls have been out in force since the news broke yesterday attempting to milk a universal tragedy into a weapon. It’s not a tragedy to them, it’s the newest weapon to try and discredit all women and defang any future accusation.
My condolences to the family and those affected. If you are suffering thoughts of suicide, please reach out to someone near you or national hotlines.
Zoe Quinn did not kill Alec Holowka. Substantiated allegations of abuse which continued into this very summer did not kill Alec Holowka. It is very hard to know what to do with tragedies like this one when he was both victim and victimizer. What we must not do is erase the very real harm he caused many women, no…
What a terrible situation all around. Just heartbreaking to read about and I haven’t even played the game (been sitting in my backlog for months)
I’m already seeing the comments, so let’s be clear about something here:
“Cancel Culture” did not kill Alec Holowka. We don’t yet have the full picture of how he died, but it sounds as if he died by suicide, and had been suffering from a host of psychological and personal difficulties prior to that final, tragic act.
No…
She look like a Sugar Daddy after you bite it.
I fucking love Lizzo.
I’m so supremely disappointed in him. I was thrilled that he was getting a full-circle moment where the money he “lost” was now his because he chose ethics and integrity. Alas, the principles have evaporated and he seems quite entitled. He’s morphed into a version of the monster he (presumably) loathed. Since that…
I think the line of what’s acceptable has been moved and a lot of the older dudes just don’t get it. It was “edgy” (ie tolerated because people weren’t willing to speak up) a decade ago, but now it’s just not ok. he’ll learn.
I mean, she did go toe-to-toe with Biden when the government tried to make it more difficult for poor people to declare bankruptcy ... in 2005. Y’all need to learn that some people just change their views over time, and that that is a GOOD thing.
Or Bernie caring about income inequality.
...Man, Dave is so fucking lazy...
Yeah like of all the possible “edgy” things to joke around, why joke about kids getting raped.
It really is. Whether or not you believe Safechuck and Robson, those are ugly, shitty, unhelpful things for Chappelle to have said, and Robson’s right—kids who have been victimized who hear those comments are going to blame themselves, and that can lead to a lot of self-destructive behaviour. To be okay with…
Yeah, this was...a REMARKABLY bad take. The Me Too movement isn’t “criticism.” By that logic, men are criticized for, uh, sexual assault and physical abuse. Women are criticized for...being successful and not being humble about it. Or being beautiful and not feeling bad about it. Or being “childish” when they’re 29. Le…
Rich: I’m not really of the opinion that famous people are entitled to more fame and money. I don’t really know if Taylor Swift should have a clothing line or hedge fund in her name? There’s some assumption in this song that men aren’t criticized. Quite the contrary, especially in a MeToo era! I don’t think Justin…
