Cue all the Jalopnik comments that go:

“something something ... if it had a manual ... something something ... I would buy it, but now ... something something”

Excellent. Now all I have to do is convince my wife we need this instead of a CX-9.

Its one thing for me to build an engine in my garage that makes 755hp. Its quite another to design one, and then test and validate it to OEM reliability standards - and then sell it at low volumes. You’re paying as much, if not more, for the RnD than you are for the actual, physical parts.

Because R&D is free...

Don’t forget Sounders banners, TheNorthWest, and 26.2 stickers.

Seattle is going to be absolutely covered in these torpid contraptions. Tailgates will be billboards for dog rescue volunteering, Jill Stein 2020 and Voodoo Doughnut stickers. I’m a liberal Democrat and these things make me want to vote Republican.

I doubt it will die off and why do you want it to? I’m younger and plan on buying an RV in the next few years. I’m not looking for something to tow and not a motorhome. I grew up travelling in RVs and it’s a lot of fun. I want to share the same experiences with my children.

used RVs are dirt cheap, and I see a _lot_ of young people choosing the flexibility, freedom and low cost of an RV over a conventional home. the whole “tiny homes” thing _is_ a millennial driven trend and they are just fancy ass hipster RVs.

My friends and I go out to the desert from San Diego in their toy hauler and race around the desert on dirtbikes and quads for a weekend, we’re all in our 20s. The RV belongs to their family but I wouldn’t rule out us having our own someday. Tents aren’t really ideal out there.

I guess the worst part to me, is these days everybody is so judgmental on what everybody buys, the same people that bitched that everyone who bought Hummers, are the ones driving the misfiring beater putting out far more emissions than the Hummer.

i can’t wait til theyre worth next to nothing and I can pick one up cheap. have you seen these things lately? a far cry from your uncle’s winnebago...

Umm, #vanlife

You’d be surprised, the Gen Xers are getting in on the fun too.

It’s not. The vast majority of these are trailers of varying sizes (from tiny pop up tent trailers to huge triaxle fifth wheel units and everything in between). These are usually are dirt cheap to run, tag and insure in most places as long as you’re not paying to store them, and there’s a lot of pent up demand to

I think it will just evolve to suit the times. Look at Mercedes: their Sprinter is incredibly popular with the modern hippie Instagram-famous #vanlife #wanderlust crowd.

Gen X here. I can’t afford one and my lifestyle doesn’t permit it, but wifey and I like the idea of them. It wouldn’t ever be tour bus size, and we’re way too stylish for those godawful interiors. But bring me something like this

So to sum up, get rid of any vehicle you don’t like?! Seriously?! We should all drive around in unreliable Jeep Wranglers I guess.

I’m 36 years old and have considered getting one of these whenever I move out of the city into the suburbs and can have one. I love road-tripping, but my wife has a bladder that can’t last more than 2 hours at a stretch. Having the ability for her to go in the back to use the restroom rather than having to find

I’m Gen X and I could see myself downsizing to one of these we retire. It is a great way to see the country. We did a cross-country RV trip one summer when I was a kid, and it was one of the best experiences of my life.
