In the states where I’ve bought cars, the doc fee is used to recoup the costs of filing documentation. It’s limited by the state and completely optional, but in my limited experience I’ve never seen a dealer charge anything less than the max.

IMO, the 2011 series felt like the right direction to me, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see how Thundercats Roar turns…
