You are absolutely right it is the best. You can see how legendary this game is just by looking at the millions of sequel/remakes that were made. (and who all failed to be as goog as the original). The only other game that comes close (also isometric) is tactics ogre.

You are absolutely right. Worst case for me was that Ghostbusters reboot which had like 10 of them. It completely ruined the flow of the story.
