I love how the top comment is “what about the men?!” It’s like some people can’t stand women being treated like they matter for once. No one said men couldn’t use the hashtag. Terry Crews and James Van Der Beek spoke out last week and were respected, as would any man who chimed in with their experience. It just so…
Mansplaining and being condescending are not the same thing. Mansplaining is a gendered behavior where the man assumes to know (more) about a subject by virtue of his gender and assumes that a woman needs it explained to her because of her gender. If it’s not a gendered situation, it’s not mansplaining.
It always has been. Men condescend disproportionately to women. Now that young women are, on average, more educated than men, and men are still explaining stuff we already know to us on a regular basis, this is getting named and called out.
What about educating white people to not be racist?
You missed the part where you’re also trying to teach the child empathy.
I mean, I don’t know how much clearer I can be about this (I also don’t know why people dance around making this point): If you support Donald Trump, you’re a bad person.
They are just looking for someone more cultured.
“What would MLK say about...?”
“What about black on black crime?”
“I don’t see color” makes me see red, because it’s the most insidious of the group. Like, if you’ve never thought about culture, it sounds good a first blush, but it’s super, super harmful and an utter lie.
Scallops, if only because they are my favorite food to eat but I constantly mess them up whenever I try to make them myself. (A future post on scallops would be a nice consolation prize, tho.)
I see no reason to doubt that James Frascatore is a racist goon, a terrible police officer and an uncontrollably violent person.
Oh, y’all some stupid motherfuckers. No, the point of the protest wasn’t to get billionaires to donate to worthwhile causes. Go troll somewhere else. I am not even in the mood for this bullshit, today.
Best Phoenix hack: Don’t go to Phoenix.
