So... no answer?

“Baking becomes much easier when you measure by weight instead of volume.”

I never complained about people buying gift cards for restaurants.

I never said it bothers me that people may want to do this - why are you asking me to defend a position I never stated?  Why does it bother you so much that I asked someone what is “fucking genius” about a person buying gift cards for some restaurants they like?

Here’s one restaurant in Seattle making major changes (to benefit both the community and their own livelihood as well as keep their staff employed & working as much as they can) because of the crisis: https://canlis.com/

What, exactly, is “fucking genius” about a person buying gift cards for some restaurants they like?

It’s both hilarious and tiresome that people like you still go around making such dumb arguments as this.

Are you trolling, or just an idiot?

I am obviously speaking in effective terms here; if you buy a restaurant gift card because you fear they may be forced to shut down and they do shut down before you have a chance to use the gift card, then effectively speaking it doesn’t function as a loan in the end, it’s just a gift that didn’t serve its purpose

...or to make up for the staff’s potential loss in pay. The “...tip generously! And don’t forget to throw a little extra in for the culinary team and dishwashers” comment is ridiculous.

I never said that giving a restaurant money doesn’t help the restaurant - and no, my not supporting any one particular restaurant certainly does not guarantee it will be forced to shut down.

“Use the funds to pay the employees...”

Buying a gift card doesn’t guarantee they will stay open. If they close down before you have a chance to use it, it’s not a loan.

Because buying a gift card doesn’t guarantee they will stay open, so yo could easily end up with a worthless gift card.

“How is that odd? Buying gift cards is like a loan. You are giving them money now, to be paid back with their food at a later date.”

Explain your inability to understand the obvious.

“please tip generously!”

That’s an odd approach in response to the issue of restaurants facing possible closure.

Yes - because the companies that manufacture reusable cups / mugs don’t sell them, they just go around and place them into various trash bins and dumpsters for the bums to find. The ones you see on the shelves in the Starbucks stores are for display only - they let all the bums know what will be available in the
