I would easily argue that the four films you mentioned at the bottom felt like immediate justifiably great films. Watching The Third Man for the first time there is nothing inscrutable about them. Its not like their greatness was hiding waiting to be discovered.

Sam Rockwell or a younger Downey Jr. definitely.

if its a great film one does not need to see it numerous times to call it great.

they were audibly angry. I mean its the Arclight and they're usually accepting of any weird art film but you could clearly tell people were walking out saying what the fuck.

thank you I thought I wasn't alone

You should have seen my Arclight audience who were clearly confused or most of the critics at the time who just called it confusing.

The Master is a gorgeous gorgeous film with great acting. I'll give you that but the script is impenetrable and is quite dull. Its a far cry from his earlier brilliant scripts.

This is not a good movie but at least it better than Inherent Vice. I mean at least The Master has some pretty shots. The Master is impossible to figure out though. There's a reason why this was a box office bomb and the Arclight audience I saw it with hated it.

I thought I was the only one who noticed that. Very true.

Whats people's opinion on Our Love To Admire. I always liked that album quite a bit.

I sort of really liked French Kiss a lot. I've always been unsure if I was completely alone though as I couldn't remember its critical reputation.

No. No Country For Old Men is perfect in every way. There Will Be Blood is simply not as good although its very good.

There Will Be Blood is the beginning of his inaccessible films.

Surprised there is no There Will Be Blood.

Get a lit of great monster of the week episodes. There is at least 20 that still hold up as one of a kind television.

Makes sense. It certainly vivid and unnerving.

I guess Ill give my story since everyone here is pretty much a skeptic.

Completely agree the movie itself is not that memorable even as a young kid but that sequence in the alien ship freaked me out badly. I mean it basically played like if you were abducted by aliens you basically were abducted by demons that would fuck you up.

I hope he's serious. Unbreakable is his best film. A sequel is a good thing.

I love Unbreakable so this made me very happy.
