    Being born in 91, pop culture managed to ruin the chest bursting moment for me before I’d even had a chance to see Alien. I’d seen so many jokey references to that moment that when I actually saw it for the first time my overriding reaction was “oh, that’s where that comes from”.

    People often exaggerate for effect, it’s a common rhetorical trick and when people refer to themselves as ‘the only one’ it’s pretty clearly not meant to be taken literally given that we live on a planet with 7 billion plus people. The real question is why you felt the need to display a persona seemingly constructed

    Peak Will Smith as an alcoholic bum of a superhero who has to hire Jason Bateman as his PR guy’ still sounds like a winner. However if I'm gonna rewatch a 2008 Will Smith movie these days it's gotta be I Am Legend. Apart from the botched ending that film was dope and it reminds me of a time when I was still excited

    Hancock couldn’t even get its own mythology right. In the first half of the movie he’s constantly using his powers (intentionally or otherwise) while in or around Bateman and Therons house. Later it’s revealed that his powers disappear whenever he’s around Theron...ok, except for all those instances you showed us

    In short, the movie idolises superheroes while the comic criticises them.
