1st Gear- Isn’t this just a $3k rebate that GM (and every other car manufacturer) does at the end of every model year? They just package it up front, so you don’t have to haggle with a dealer.

But you had to engage in significant effort to discover that price, that’s the difference. I don’t think any reasonable person is claiming that this is some sort of AMAZING TECH DISRUPTION, just that it’s meaningfully different from other OEM’s new-car buying experience.
Since when does CarMax sell new vehicles? Used vehicle shopping is not from OEMs and is a very different experience.
A car manufacturer lowering prices of long standing models due to improving manufacturing and reducing build cost?? Its almost as if they’re not complete shit heads.
a programming note: Does it bother you that The Morning Shift includes links to sources that are behind paywalls? If so, why?
He’s just deliberately stupid about this.
as someone who has been in the driverless beta since very early, you’re crazy.
I feel safer in a driverless Waymo than I do in 90% of the uber/lyft/taxis I have taken in my life.
Guess it depends on personality. Having to interact with the driver is my least favorite thing about taxis and ride sharing.
How good have you been about pinching your pennies? The Taycan Gran Turismo is right around the bend.
I would buy the shit out of an Electric C30. No joke!
When do we get an electric V60 or V90 Cross Country? I will need a replacement for my B5 Allroad in a few years and an electric long-roof would be the perfect replacement.
Let’s be honest, you’re not reaching out to every automaker that has a customer with wheel alignment issues, has fallen asleep at the wheel, or has defective panoramic roofs. Your reaching out to Tesla because a response from them would be clickworthy for you. Most of your email requests are of the un-slick tone...…
Flying roofs are soooo 2008. Flying frunk lids are the trend now.
Was all C6s I believe sold between a certain period. All Corvette coupes, base, GS, Z06, ZR1, have the removable targa roof panel.
after spending months working from home I realized just how much time I was wasting driving, moved into a house in August that is a 90 second walk from work. went from driving 40-60 minutes a day to WALKING 3 minutes. (6 minutes if I go home for lunch which I do so I don’t have to take my mask off at the office.) I…
I’m thinking these would be drop-in rentals from a Ford dealership for the somewhat rare instances you need to take a long distance trip.
I’m guessing part of the idea is that this thing doesn’t necessarily give you indefinite range, but maybe charges slightly less than the truck is using electricity. EX: If I’m using 100 units of electricity per hour, maybe this thing charges at 50 units. So sure, I can’t drive forever, but it would still be doubling…
Electrify America shut down 500 miles of charging along I-95 over Labor Day weekend with no advance notice to customers. It was a weird misstep for an otherwise great operation.
Yeah, SpaceX really blew by the competition so much that it’s not even fair to call them competition any more.
If one was able to pick up a used i3 with range extended as a cheap commuter (and has a 30-mile one way commute), would you recommend it? Has it been relatively maintenance free?
