Any engineer that doesn't understand why we're moving to EVs and who doesn't see the massive development opportunities should not be holding a job.

We’ve been over this quite a few times... It is part of their business model and similar to the profits of any other aspect of a typical auto manufacturer’s profit. Tesla is an energy company, primarily an electric car manufacturer, but that is not its sole purpose. Also, they sold $5 billion in their stock to…
I’m all for subsidizing the Bolt and similar vehicles. I think that should be square in the sights of tax credits.
Have you seen the Model 3 in the twisties? They keep their foot down and let the electronics do their magic. There is a reason why SCCA bumped the Model 3 PP to the top of the stock class. The class winners last year described the lap a boring. I have never heard an autocross course as boring.
Counterpoint: I live in an apartment with no charging available but there’s a shopping center next door with charging stations and a Trader’s Joe’s. My office is less than five miles away. I would not need to charge more often than I need to shop for food. This is not in a “city,” but a suburb with ~80% single family…
Well “too high” is subjective. The equation SHOULD work this way: Price = cost of parts + cost of labor + profit. Unfortunately, with new technology, it goes like this: Price = cost of parts + cost of labor + profit + cost of resistance to adoption for a new technology. The last one is really hard to quantify without…
Call it the Jolt, raise it up with plastic and make that the base model. Then lower it and remove the cladding and charge $2k more for a Jolt S.
Exactly. Hey, GM - where are the plug-in versions of your best-selling vehicles in the US?
You’re overwhelming me with choices here.
Do you own one? I do. I daily drive mine about 80 miles a day as a commuter car with no concern about range what so ever. If I want to drive it past about 130 miles (pure EV range) I spend a second and look for DC quick chargers along my route or I let it run on the range extender for another 100 miles then put…
This just isn’t true. Even with electricity generated. MAYBE in some parts of the country with old infrastructure it’s parity, but to claim energy generation with a dedicated, stationary scrubber is larger pollutor than whatever cleaning system we can put on each car. Anyone who claims the electricity generated is…
Wow, I always assumed these things were basically like FWD electric Mini’s. I have a new respect for the i3
This is the only recent BMW that I actually like and have respect for. Love the ones with the woodgrain and tweedy interiors.
It’s only been 12 hours and either they’ve all sold or they were pulled down. They only have these two in stock now:
Pretty sure Larry David drives one of these....so you got that going for you.
Well, there it is.. thanks!!
Is it racist to call someone an “inherent” racist? Is it like part of his genetics to be racist?
Need an ejection system for empty batteries. Just have to remember to pick them up on the way down.
These things are seriously fun to canyon carve in. The Model S felt like a boat, but the Model 3 feels like it was actually made to be driven hard. Performance aside, the site lines over the hood are fantastic.
