As an appliance yes, it provides exactly what a Camry or a Civic or a Pallisade does. But most people want comfort and quality and some can afford it. Tesla does not Provide that for the price

Well, I think we’re in agreement that DC charging isn’t *inherently* very fast, so it *should* just be called DC charging.
Level 2 (240V) charging is a different animal than DC Fast Charging on trips, in my experience.
Sebring!
Ditto. I’d rather just get where I need to be. Doubly so if there’s a line to use the chargers (as I’d expect there to be).
What website are you using to find those chargers?
But it’s not using a “DCFastCharging” port, it’s using a CCS/CHAdeMO/J1/Tesla Type-2 port. Nothing there stating fast charging, just that it’s using DC.
Did batteries become harder to swap because it was no longer a design intent since quick-battery-swaps was a dead idea, or did quick-batter-swaps become a dead idea because it got harder to swap batteries? I have an inkling it was more of the first, and less of the second.
Sounds like an adventure. haha
I guess the charging companies and I will agree to disagree with you, then.
Definitely have a soft spot for the New Edge cars. Had a heads/cam ‘00 3.8L and my dad had the aforementioned Coyote-Powered ‘01 Bullitt.
Owner of a 2001 Bullitt. Can confirm. Before the full Maximum Motorsports suspension upgrade and Battle Boxes it felt like racing string cheese on hot pavement.
All it takes for me to find a hotel with a destination charger is select the amenity in Hotels.com for the search in the area about where I know I’m going to end my day. Job done and extra time invested.... .00000000001 seconds to click the box on the page. ;)
I mean, I agree with you that it’s not THAT big of a deal to road trip with a car like the Bolt. But most people don’t want to be “forced” to eat two long meals at a specific location while doing a 700-mile day, find hotels with L2 and hope the plugs are working/available when they arrive at 10pm so they don’t have…
You’re confusing DC with fast charging. DC is DC, nothing else. Fast charging is 50kW and up.
We lost it for 15 days during Isabel. That’s certainly a freak occurrence, but we had to go out for food during that time.
There are only two real standards, anymore.
Plus, how is the gas station going to pump gas if the power is out?
Replacing a Prius with an EV is a shockingly low increase on overall cost to own/run.
Having lived in FL for 25+ years, I’ve never been without power for more than ~30 hours, and that was an outlier in itself, so it’s kind of another rare premise in the first place.
